Help Rebuild the Brookey's Life
Donation protected
We are the faculty and staff at Sierra Vista High School in the City of Baldwin Park, California. We are reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your support for a beloved colleague, friend, and music teacher, Mrs. Suzanne Brookey. For over 20 years, she has dedicated herself to educating and inspiring students at Sierra Vista High School and throughout the Baldwin Park community.
Tragically, Mrs. Brookey, her husband Jeff, and their son Jaxson lost their home in Altadena to the Eaton Canyon Fire on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. This devastating loss has left them without a place to call home and without the comfort of their cherished belongings built over a lifetime.
In her classroom, Mrs. Brookey creates a safe and inclusive space where students can express themselves freely. Her music room is more than a place of learning—it is a haven where students feel understood, valued, and supported. Beyond music, she offers guidance and mentorship, motivating her students to reach their full potential musically and personally. Her kindness, dedication, and passion have shaped countless lives, and now, she needs our help.
In 2009, the Brookey family purchased their charming cottage-style home in Altadena. Built in 1925, the house celebrated its 100th birthday in early 2025. In Mrs. Brookey’s words, “While it wasn’t large, it radiated personality and charm—many likened it to a gingerbread house straight out of a fairy tale.” The Brookey family lovingly cared for their home, creating a vibrant garden filled with plants and flowers. It was a labor of love, a space alive with beauty, history, and warmth.
We are raising funds to help the Brookey family rebuild their lives, secure temporary housing, and replace other essential belongings. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a profound difference in their journey to recovery. Sharing this message with others would also mean the world to us.
Thank you for standing with us to support someone who has given so much to our community in her time of need. Together, we can help the Brookey family move forward and rebuild the life they so lovingly created.
With gratitude,
Sierra Vista High School Faculty & Staff
“Making music is and always will be my refuge and you guys (students) are my “why” - there is immense power and strength that comes from people working together, but even more so when it’s to make the world a more beautiful place filled with music.”
