Help the Brimm Family Through Tough Times

Hi everyone,

My name is Melissa & I am making this fundraiser for our family friends, Austin, Abbie, & Hunter Brimm.

On Tuesday, February 18, Austin had some vision changes. He went to an eye appointment that same day, but continued to go to work on Tuesday & Wednesday.

Thursday, on Austin’s way to work, the tire on his truck blew. That situation has been handled, but in the midst of that, he lost vision in his eye completely. Full-on blackout in one eye.

To keep a long story short, they have done multiple tests, including a spinal tap, attempting to get some answers. We are still waiting for an update on the official diagnosis, but the doctors at U of M seem to be leaning towards a diagnosis of MS. He has had 2 rounds of steroids, which have done absolutely nothing so far. Tomorrow he will receive round 3, and if that doesn’t cause any improvement, they will be placing a tube in his chest to remove his plasma & replace it with new plasma, with the hopes that doing this will kick out whatever is causing the vision loss. If he has to have this procedure done, it will have to be done every other day, for 10 days, at U of M in Ann Arbor. Regardless of the diagnosis, Austin is still going to be down for a while. Everything he has gone through in the last 36 hours is going to take him down for a while. The doctors informed them that it will take his body 45 days to replace the spinal fluid that they removed. This will leave him very vulnerable to injury if he does not take it easy.

Austin & Abbie have a four-year-old son, & the 3 of them are fully dependent on Austin’s income. This sudden loss of work is going to cause a huge financial strain on this family who was NOT prepared for something so life-changing. There are many things this money will be going to: gas to get back & forth to Ann Arbor, the monthly bills that the family has, groceries, & medical bills.

Austin has never been one to ask for help, and that is why I am making this fundraiser on their behalf.
