Help The Brandt’s after the B.C. Flood
Donation protected
Hello!
My name is Jazmyn and I am creating this fundraiser for my in laws, Doug and Deana (Dea) Brandt. Doug and Dea are located in the Sumas Prairie on Number 5 Road and have been severely affected by the floods. They both operate their businesses from the property that is now submerged in 6ft of water maybe more.
Doug operates a Landscaping Business that many of you may know as Treewisemen Landscaping. 18 acres of tree inventory is currently underwater and this is their lively hood. The yard with all of the tractors, excavators, bobcats, and trucks and trailer are also underwater and there is no telling when they can return, let alone when work will resume to normal. Deana also operates from the property and runs her counselling therapy office from the bottom floor of their home which has faced the majority of the damage. These circumstances have put them both out of not only a home but their only sources of income and the future is still so uncertain.
I make this fundraiser in secrecy to them (although I know at some point they will see it) because they are not the type of people to accept but rather give. They would give you the shirt off their back if you needed it. They have been evacuated from their home since 6:30am on Tuesday and have not once asked for any assistance but rather have been checking on their neighbours and taking care of Jake (my fiancé) and myself who are also without a home due to the flood.
The farm is home to so many of us. It has housed people who had nowhere else to go, and it has always been an open door to ANYONE in need. It will be that way when it is fixed and the water is drained because it is Doug and Dea who make it home. Not the structure itself. Anyone who knows them can vouch for this.
The funds donated will help with housing costs while they are unable to return home as well as any groceries, pet food/supplies, and bills as we are uncertain how long it will be until work and income will resume to normal.
I hope and pray that all who are reading this are safe and have not suffered during these times. If you have please reach out and I will get you in touch with the many resources available!
Thank you
