Anyone who knows the Bradley family has a story about how Buffy or Scott has helped them in one way or another. Maybe Scott helped find a job for your child or helped you find a senior living facility for an aging family member. They might have shown up to your child’s play or sporting event. Buffy might have been who you called when you had a dental emergency and you didn’t know who else to call. They may have shown up to a birthday party or celebration just to support YOU. Because those are the kind of friends they are. They don’t ask for anything in return; they just want to be there to support you when you need them. How lucky we all are to know this family!
Right now, they need all of us who have been touched by their kindness to show up for them. Buffy was admitted to the hospital on October 6th and is facing the fight of her life. It has taken over 2 weeks for doctors to diagnose cancer in her body, and they’re still running tests to find out exactly where it is and the best course of action. She also has a rare condition caused by a cancer antibody that has attacked her cerebellum. She has essentially lost all coordination. She can’t walk or feed herself, and she can barely speak or open her eyes. We all know how sassy and determined Buffy is, but this is a fight that will also take a toll on her family.
Just a few months ago, Buffy started a new job, and now, without her being able to work, they go from a 2-income to a 1-income family for an unknown amount of time. Her hospitalization will be long and involved. Once home, she will need lots of physical therapy to even get her to a new normal. Scott is still trying to balance going to work every day with spending every night and weekend by her side in the hospital. The looming cost of hospital bills is already overwhelming to think about, and even Jake is trying to help out by getting a job. He is only 16 and should be spending his money on hanging out with his friends and taking girls on dates, not helping to keep a roof over their heads.
If you can donate any amount of money to help them, it would be so very appreciated! And if you can’t donate here, please share this with anyone else whose lives they might have touched. No one should have to walk this path alone, and we all know if the roles were reversed, they’d be there for us. Thank you in advance for your help and kindness!
