On September 28th, tragedy struck when my family's home went up in flames due to a bathroom fan. In an instant, their world was turned upside down.

My mom, Karen Ann, dad, Joseph, sister, Karena, nephew, Kaydyn (7), and 2 senior dogs, Diego & Chewie, all managed to escape the fire, thankfully.

My family has lost their home, their belongings, and their sense of safety all in a single moment.

Kaydyn has received 2 liver transplants, and is a liver cancer survivor. He received his first transplant at 2 years old and his 2nd transplant at 5 years old. Kaydyn is a Make-A-Wish child, whose wish was granted earlier this year.

He has been in and out of the hospitals his whole life.

This year, my family were finally able to start living a new normal life until this fire took that away from them.

The return to “normalcy” for all of them will be a long road.
