Hi all, before you question “who is Kali Bertolet?” I just want to clarify who I am! I am Brad Bodon’s(Cathi’s son) girlfriend! Cathi has pretty much taken me into the family and treated me like her own since day one! We are expecting her 4th grandchild in just a few weeks! She’s fighting to meet her grandson that’s for sure! Brad is mostly in charge of this fundraiser, just using my Facebook since he does not have one! The family thanks you all for sharing, reading, donating, praying and doing what you can to be supportive and helping us through this tough time!
Cathi Bodon-Caralis was admitted to the hospital June 3rd for abdominal pain. She had to have a surgery done to get inflammation and infection out of her stomach and duodenum that had occurred from a repair she had done 15 years ago due to a ruptured ulcer. She had to get 1/2 of her stomach removed, and a 1/3 of her duodenum. She was in the hospital for a little less than a week after the surgery was done and then was sent home. She was recovering slowly, and still in a lot of pain. She felt bloated and often had chest pains, the doctor told us that it was just gas build up. On Sunday June 16th, Cathi had blacked out. When she came to, Cathi told her husband Marcos to call 911. She had to have CPR for 12 minutes before they brought her back to us. She had an abdominal bleed and was taken to emergency surgery. This has been the longest month of her and her families life. After her first surgery, she was put into a medically induced coma, left open, and had a breathing tube installed, which is still breathing for her today. She has had 7 surgeries, and a lot has been removed from inside of her body. As of June 28th, the doctors had Cathi completely closed up and were hoping to take out the breathing tube within the next few days. Unfortunately, Cathi has shown decreasing signs and might have to endure yet another surgery on Monday.
She is the most loving, caring, generous and thoughtful person I have ever met in my entire life! She loves her grandchildren, her children, her extended family, her coworkers, her friends and every other soul she has the opportunity to meet. As she goes through this expensively unfortunate time, Cathi and her family could use all of the love, help, prayers and and support we can afford to give them at this time. Cathi is the last person who deserves for anything like this to happen to them. Thank you to anyone and everyone that can or does decide to read this story, prays for her, and/or donates to the cause.
Let this also also serve as a thank you to those of you that have already helped Cathi and her family. We are eager and ready for the Christmas-loving, sports-loving and family-loving mother, friend, coworker and grandmother to come home happy and healthy!
All donations and proceeds are linked to a Bodon-Caralis account and will be used directly for medical expenses and rehabilitation.
