Help the Blue House rescued dogs

Donation protected

My name is Rita known by the islanders as " the woman with many dogs. "

I have been rescuing injured, sick dogs of all ages since 2011 on the small island of La Digue in the Seychelles. These vulnerable, helpless little souls were experiencing agonising pain from injuries, suffering from hunger, malnutrition and parasite infestations.

There are no vets on the island and I felt compelled to use my medical and surgical knowledge to assist in the first aid treatment and nursing care towards saving a life and recovery management.

Had I turned my back on them, they would have sadly all perished.

" The Blue House "for dog lovers was once a thriving, very popular guest house, accommodating guests who specifically chose to spend a part of their holidays giving much love , affection and integrating with the rescued dogs who have free range of a 2 hectares woodland garden.

The business operated for six, delightful years with the pack of 40 + dogs , happily socialising with the most, beautiful, amazing ,compassionate people from all corners of the world.

The non profitable, accommodating fee went towards funding food and medi

cine for the canine Residents.

In February 2020, the Tourism Authority enforced a new rule that my guests were no longer allowed to come into contact with the dogs for no reasons whatsoever.

It was like saying " One can go on the beach but not in the water ! "

My hoasting business stopped operating in March 2020 because I chose to give up the business and keep my brood rather than abandoning them .

I am their world and they are my little bright stars who have taught me so much about humility, patience, tolerance , courage and the magical simplicity that engulfs our daily activities. On a bad day, they will inspire me to focus towards a colourful horizon .

How could I turn my back on them?

This year, the price of dog food in Seychelles has gone through the roof as a result of covid .

With no income since March 2020, it is becoming a struggle to manage feeding the pack.

I have had random food donation from visitors to La Digue to whom I am deeply grateful.

I need your help ( if you are able ) to raise some fund for the animal's food , also urgently need to repair the wiremesh boundary fence which has corroded and is no longer secure to keep the dogs safe from escaping.

Several of the escapees have chewed holes through the wiremesh and escaped out into the neighbourhood and sadly been poisoned by some cruel people.

A new secure fence is out of the question because here on La Digue it will be so expensive as all the material has to be transported by boat from the main island to La Digue.

Should you wish to see some videos of my rebels, you can find me on facebook .

I thank you for giving us some of your time to read our story.
