Fire Destroys Recently Purchased Blankenship Property

We are grateful to know Esther (Lyon) and her husband, Mathew Blankenship. This couple is living among and sacrificially ministering to men, women and families in the historic Portland area of Louisville, KY. This neighborhood (once affluent) is now over-run with drugs, poverty and crime. See more information about their ministry (The Haven Ministries) in the paragraphs below. Please keep Mathew, Esther and their family in your prayers and consider helping them financially due to a house fire that occurred during the early part of October 2020.

Unfortunately, a house that the Blankenships had recently purchased in the Portland area to remodel as their personal residence was set on fire by gang members. The result was a total loss of the home. With the riots that are currently taking place in Louisville, police presence is pulled away from this neighborhood and crime has become substantially worse.

The property was purchased from a land bank for only $3,000 and was not yet insurable due to required repairs. The city has placed an emergency demolition order on the burned structure which is costing the Blankenships an additional $7,000. After this work has been completed, Mathew and Esther will have to "start from scratch" on the building of a new home.

When I asked Esther what we could do to help, her response was, "Add us to your daily prayer list." She didn't ask for anything else... Our goal is for several individuals to pull their financial resources together and, at a minimum, help Mathew and Esther cover the cost of the property purchase ($3,000) and demolition ($7,000) which totals $10,000. Please prayerfully consider what you can do to help this family in time of need.

About The Haven Ministries

In January 2011, Esther Lyon was miraculously delivered from alcoholism. Through a series of events, the Holy Spirit called her to leave her primary occupation as an anesthesia provider to be a personal testimony of HOPE and God's transforming power.

Following her call into ministry, Esther moved to the west side of Louisville, KY (the historic Portland neighborhood) and founded The Haven Ministries [501(c)(3)] which serves as a non-profit with a variety of ministry outreaches including the Cup of Joy (https://www.facebook.com/cupofjoyportland/), the Haven Restoration Center and the Haven Church.

Mathew and Esther were married in April 2019 and he now serves alongside Esther as they desire to be the "hands and feet of Jesus," ministering to those who are bound by chains of addiction.
