My name is Shelby, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my family during one of the most difficult times we’ve ever faced. We are currently behind on our rent and in serious danger of losing our home. We’re humbly asking for help to raise $6,000 so we can catch up and avoid eviction.

Our hardship began when I was unexpectedly fired from my job in November 2024. It took six long months of fighting in court before I was finally approved for unemployment benefits — and even then, the amount wasn’t nearly enough to cover rent. While we’ve managed to secure food assistance, Medicaid, and help with utilities, rent has remained a constant struggle.

To prepare for a more stable future, we filed for bankruptcy last month. This has given us a fresh start in many areas — but since we don’t own our home, it didn’t resolve our rent situation. My husband, Joseph, is currently unable to work due to a torn rotator cuff and can’t see a specialist until after 9/1 when his Medicaid coverage fully kicks in.

I recently accepted a full-time job and begin working on September 8. Once I’m back on my feet, I’ll be able to manage our finances again — but right now, we’re in a critical window. Without help, we risk losing the only home our children know.

We’re not asking for luxury — just a chance to stay housed and stable while we get through this rough patch. Every dollar donated will go directly toward our rent and keeping a roof over our heads.
