My name is Brynnie Rushmer, and I am starting this GoFundMe to support my neighbours, a beautiful family whose lives were tragically changed forever on the 8th of January on Appin Road, NSW.
On this heartbreaking day the family were involved in a devastating head-on collision caused by a drunk driver driving a ute on the wrong side of the road. What should have been an ordinary day ended in unimaginable loss and trauma.
The father of the family is currently in critical condition. He is the sole breadwinner and only source of income for the household. Due to the severity of his injuries, he will be unable to work for a significant period of time leaving the family suddenly without financial security at a time when they need it most.
They are parents to seven children. Tragically, one of their children lost her life at the scene and another is currently in stable condition at Westmead Children’s Hospital continuing to receive medical care and support.
The family is now facing overwhelming challenges all at once — grief, trauma, medical uncertainty, and financial hardship. They need urgent community support to:
-Keep a roof over their heads
-Put food on the table
-Cover medical-related expenses
-Manage everyday living costs while income is lost
-Pay for funeral costs for their dearly loved daughter
We are mourning the loss of Miriamu Bitomwa — a deeply loved daughter, sister, cousin, friend, and neighbour.
Miriamu was a beautiful, intelligent and compassionate young girl , who had just graduated school and had her whole future ahead of her. She was full of promise and hope, with dreams of becoming an architect. Her life was only just beginning and her loss has left a devastating hole in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
No family should ever have to endure this level of pain and no family should have to worry about finances while grieving the loss of a child and fighting for the life of a parent.
I am asking( pleading ) for our community and beyond to come together during this unimaginable time. Every donation no matter how small will make a real difference in helping this family survive the months ahead with dignity, stability, and support.
