Hi Beloved Friends! Many of you already know my story. (I've included it all below as it originally appeared in April 2024 shortly after I fell.)
As of 8/4/24, I've had a bone graft and hardware installation to correct a concave tibial plateau fracture to my left leg, mainly impacting my knee Range of Motion and hip, foot articulation at this point 3.75 months post Birthday Hiking Accident Adventure. I've been taking PT 2 to 3 x per week for at least 2 months as well.
I've raised, with your generous hearts, $7500 (through GFM and other avenues) and my Full Recovery is underway!! 95% of the donations have been used simply to pay monthly expenses of rent, cell, insurance, storage unit, some groceries, and only 1 daily supplement I use for natural inflammation and pain relief.
My monthly income was averaging $4500/month before I fell. Meaning I've focused donations on just the basics and done quite a bit of juggling. I realized I needed to realign and include self pay therapies that have proven successful in cases like mine as I make bigger changes to my career that don't rely on me standing or walking or driving UNTIL I'm truly ready.
⭐️Recovery took a lot of work to this point, including PT 3x/wk and lots of administrative work to stay afloat and keep the information and medical insurance status regarding my case clear and keep from having financial failures and much more serious issues. I know we're all aware of how our contributions empower lives in times like these!!
There is only a 70 degree ROM (range of motion) at my knee after 8 weeks of working on it. My hip and lower back, my ankle and foot .... EVERYTHING is actually improving and rehabilitating. However, the scar tissue in the knee near the bone graft and hardware and where I wore two kinds of braces is... well, needing more than just PT and insurance covered options.
Although I have been driving Uber again, last week being my longest hours in my car, my calf becomes dangerously stiff and ROM seems to decrease, stiffness and inflammation are simply too much. So, I'm increasing my Funding Goal to a total of $20,000 (or an additional $14,000) to begin treatments that accelerate bone healing, breaking up scar tissue, reduce pain and inflammation and that support healthy mobility for life. I'm also looking for support in paying for the basics as I train and transition into a new career that will take about 3 months to be up to speed in.
These changes all support the full rehabilitation of everything impacted in my left leg, from my foot to my hip, focusing on the knee region.
I'll be able to work remotely helping others with programs that help them recover faster and better and set up the kinds of financial systems that I wish I had known about in my twenties or thirties.
I'll reduce driving Uber to less than 20 hours a week to stop damaging or slowing my recovery as I transition my career.
In 3 - 6 months, I'll move from my current handicap temporary weekly rental to something better suited to my goals in life, like having a couple of pets and a place for friends to come for delicious home prepared healthy meals!
THANK YOU for being with me on this adventure into recovery, healing, wellness, career change, oneness, love of the Divine, community, and this GIFT of LIFE!!!
I'll be sharing my journey at https://www.facebook.com/share/g/vhf5nS4BDCJmjjd8/?mibextid=A7sQZp and I'm adding an email sign up and looking into a platform to share all that's helped me and that supports FULL RECOVERY!!! Whoooo Hooooooo!!! Let's DO THIS!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
KEEP READING FOR THE APRIL ORIGINAL POST
Hi Friends! I went for a hike to a waterfall on my birthday - Monday, April 15th - and while attempting to cross a creek I slipped and fell into river rock, immediately breaking my left shin.
Aka Tibial Plateau
The bone shelf holding up the knee and thigh...
And could not get out of very cold creek water for 40 + minutes.
My Story ::
My hiking companion Stephanie called the campground support and 3 members came to try to help me. The EMT crew arrived and lifted me out of the water to a stretcher and I was taken by ambulance to Lewis Gale Montgomery.
I learned that I had broken my leg and was told I would require surgery.
PREVIOUSLY I was doing well!
I have been
Uber again since December 2023 full time
Providing massage therapy
And working with clients on meal prep and nutritional support.
I am currently looking into online employment to replace significant monthly income.
I have been renting short term airbnb and hotel rentals prior to my accident. I'm now in a weekly rental.
I likely will require to live in rehabilitation care after surgery because I am on my own and will be unable to care for myself until I get better.
I currently have no income, no emergency funds, no place to live until I'm working again.
I'm asking for you to help me celebrate my birthday as a do over with funds to cover my bills, food, living expenses, and out of pocket health expenses.
Help me avoid falls and re-injuring myself by being able to focus on healing and treatment.
Thank you Thank you THANK YOU!!! for your help and support during this very unexpected physical challenge during what is normally a joyful time of celebration.
