Support the Birds through their cancer fight

Two months ago our best friends lives changed forever. Chris was diagnosed with stage 4 colon/liver cancer. The shock and disbelief of this horrific disease attacking someone like Chris was beyond comprehension.
Chris is a family man first and foremost to 5 loving children and he is about to be a grandfather in the spring! He’s a man who loves to work hard and play hard. Working 12+ hours a day was normal for him and he loved it. If he wasn’t “MacGyver-ing”something at the lake or backyard he was off quadding with the kids or on an adventure with his wife Jolene. He cherished his very early morning workouts and his beloved Friday late night hockey with the boys.
Every moment we’ve spent with Chris and Jolene has truly been a gift. From being at their wedding in Alaska to a luau in Hawaii. I know there’s more memories to be made yet and it’s so hard and such a helpless feeling to not be able to do anything now.
That is the reason why we have decided that this would be a way we could help them in their battle to beat cancer. However the bills don’t stop when you’re at your husband’s bedside or when you’re laying in bed unable to work. Chris has already undergone two major surgeries and is in the process of recuperating before he starts chemotherapy.
I know Chris and Jolene’s lives have touched many many people and I think this is a great opportunity to show support and love by help them with day-to-day expenses, travelling costs etc.
If we can lighten that load even a little it would mean so much.
Thank you,
Darcy & Heidi Gauthier
