Hi, my name is Evelyne. Our family lives in Hillside, NJ and the flooding in our area due to Hurricane Ida was the worst we have ever experienced. The amount of water was so much that in the basement, an entire window frame busted in. Our basement was completely flooded to the ceiling which also flooded the first floor of our home. 2 of our cars were completely submerged in water (both total loss). We only noticed the next morning that water pipes had also busted in the basement so there was still flooding the next day. Our gas and water had to be shut off and we didn’t get them back on until 3 days later.The basement was destroyed so all the utilities need to be replaced. We lost a lot of items in the house, including the water heater, boiler, couches, electronics, several big appliances, etc.. We’ve been trying our best to clean up as much as we can, especially to prevent mold. The flooring and walls need construction in areas like our family room. We don't have flood insurance so there's a lot we will have to pay for out of pocket. Overall there is a long road to recovery and we are just thankful for our safety and everyone who has assisted us and prayed for us. Thank you for helping us during this time!
