Help the Bibles cover expenses while in NICU

Donation protected
As many of you know, Kaileigh and Lexy’s lives changed on February 12, 2024. Lexy was rushed in for an emergency c-section and they welcomed their son Kaleb to the world. Kaleb was born unexpectedly at 31 weeks and was immediately taken up to the NICU where he will remain and grow for the next two months. We are asking for any help and support to help cover our regular monthly bills while we are staying in Sacramento with Kaleb until he is discharged from the NICU. The funds will be used strictly to help cover mortgage etc as we both unexpectedly had to take a leave from work earlier than expected. Anything helps and will be forever appreciated.

here is our full story: I wanted to provide all of our family and friends an update on Lexi and our pregnancy.

On Sunday Lex started complaining of pain in her abdomen and we noticed some slight swelling in her hands. We drove down to Sacramento and got checked in to the triage team. Within the next 3 minutes we found out her BP was elevated, not too concerning as they immediately administered a dose of RX to lower. Over the next 8 hours we sat in the triage room while they battled with Lex’s BP as it continued to rise. At the 8 hour mark, our OB came in and let us know to expect Lexy to be admitted for the remainder of her pregnancy as it became evident that she had preeclampsia. We could expect to deliver Kaleb at 34 weeks most likely. This was a shock, but we were happy we made the decision to come in. As we sat there and started preparing ourselves for a long haul in the hospital, Lexi’s BP continued to rise to critically high levels. As they were about to transition us to a room, our OB came back in. She advised us that not only did Lexi have preeclampsia, she had one of the most severe types. Due to the fact that they could not get her BP under control, the risks outweighed the benefits of continuing to 34 weeks. We were advised that Lexi would need to deliver Kaleb within the next 48 hours. They immediately administered steroids to help facilitate Kaleb’s lung development with the hopes that we could last 48 hours for maximum effect of the steroids. We sat there stunned trying to come to the realization that our reality completely changed and we would be delivering Kaleb at 31 weeks. They rolled us into a labor suite. As they started hooking Lex up to the new monitors, our OB came back in and sat down. She let us know that the danger was now very extreme and we needed to immediately deliver with an emergency c section. Within 2 minutes they had Lex rolling down the hall to the OR and explained to me while I was following that I could gown up and as soon as she was prepped I could go sit with Lex and watch Kaleb be born. So, we get to the OR, they wheel Lexi in and start setting up the drapes. I gown up and sit on a stool watching the doctors prepare. Dr sticks her head out and lets me know they were almost ready and I could come in in 1 minute. 10 seconds later, 30 doctors immediately rushed in and it was clear things had changed. As half of the doctors prepared the cart that would wheel Kaleb up to the NICU, one of them came over to let me know that after Lex received the anesthesia her BP dropped and this drop caused Kaleb’s heart to stop. They transitioned into a code-c section to get him out immediately. As soon as she finished her sentence, I watched them bring Kaleb out of the OR and start resuscitating him. I stood there and watched them bring my baby boy back to life. He let out his first cry and they bagged him to help him breathe. He was immediately brought up to the NICU and stabilized. Our beautiful baby boy Kaleb was welcomed into this world at 10:17pm on February 12, 2024. He weighed 3lbs and 10oz, and was 39.5 cm long.

As they continued to complete Lexi’s surgery I waited for her in the recovery room and NICU. In the recovery room they were still monitoring closely as her BP was still elevated. A very, very long 48 hours followed with checks in every 15 minutes for labs and BP checks on Lexi. She was not allowed to go up and see Kaleb yet due to her BP. I have been able to go up and see Kaleb and had my first skin to skin session. After 48 hours, on 2/14/24, Lexi was finally able to meet our son.

A very special Valentine’s Day for us indeed. Lexi continues to recover and Kaleb is doing well. He is only receiving additional air with cpap assistance at this time, which is very good for only being 31 weeks. Our life has changed forever and we have been on what feels like the most traumatic roller coaster ride the last couple days, but everyone is doing well! I will end this with a picture and by saying that Lexi is the most amazingly strong woman I know. She did her job and brought our baby boy to us safely. Happy Valentine’s Day! ♥️
