Help save our beloved family home

Hi my name is April Bernard I’m a mother of two little ones, a daughter, a sister and aunt. I’m not the person who ever asks for help with anything. I’m the one who helps others when needed. But during this extremely difficult time I feel as though this is our only option to help to save our family home while also dealing with our fathers health declining as I write this. We are in desperate need of getting main beams replaced and levelling out our family home. (House is falling in and pretty much sitting on the ground in a few areas). Unfortunately without help our house will be on the ground by spring if the work isn’t done now. My father (Barry Bernard) isn’t doing well and was given only days left and rapidly declining as I write this. This week has been an eventful and tough one on us all. After having my father have a seizure and being placed in the hospital. Two days ago he was finally moved into a private room at the QEH. It has been very tough on us all but we keep reassuring ourselves that it’s the safest place for him during the time we do have left with him. Myself and my fiancé moved back to PEI from Alberta in mid July so I could be his primary care giver and making it possible for him to stay home longer and comfortable in his own home. We are so blessed to have been able to make beautiful memories with him ones we will all hold onto. Lots of laughs lots of loud rock music (as anyone who know my father knows he loves his music)and lots of time spent in the garage. Over the past 4 years our family has been hit with many challenges due to his illness. In 2017 dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma and underwent surgery followed by chemo. April 2019 a spot of his brain was found. He underwent surgery in Moncton. He was then treated with chemo and 36 treatments of radiation. (I was able to fly home to be with my family during this time as I was residing in northern Alberta)

December 2020 we got the terrible news that the cancer was back, once again they did surgery in Moncton (I wasn’t able to be here during that time due to Covid dad also did want me to take the chances of getting the virus I was very heartbroken ) Not only has he underwent many surgeries but he also has had 8 seizures, 3 brain bleeds and a shunt put in head. Dad has been so strong during everything life has thrown at him the past 4 years. Beating many odd and constantly proving the doctors wrong. Unfortunately we are now nearing the end . The tumour has double in size and another spot has shown up. It is growing rapidly and is affecting many things like mobility and communication and breathing. Thanks to everyone for the continued support during these really hard times on us all ♥️Just looking for help taking some stress off with the current situations with our fathers health,every cent helps to help us save our family home and lighten the load of other costs coming our way during these extremely stressful and tough times.
