On the morning of July 5th, just hours after celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, Stephanie and Keith Bennett tragically lost their home to a devastating two-alarm fire at 559 Halsey Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant. While we are grateful that everyone made it out safely, the damage is so extensive that the Bennetts and several other residents are unable to return. Stephanie and Keith are both lifelong educators who have faithfully served the Department of Education for over 30 years, shaping the lives of countless children. They have also been loyal, dedicated members of Bridge Street AME Church for more than three decades, contributing not only to the congregation but to the greater Brooklyn community. Their home was more than just a residence—it was a place of support, learning, and love for neighborhood children and families alike. As they face the heartbreaking task of rebuilding, we are asking for your help.
