Help The Beck Family

My mom, Holly DeRamus Beck, is loved by all, especially me. She has always been there for me and just about everyone she has crossed paths with. She is the definition of a woman that loves fiercely and would give the shirt off her back for anyone.

For those of you who know her story, you know the journey we have been on and the journey we are still on. For those of you who don't, I am here to tell it.

Over the summer, my mother was in a horrible car wreck that left her temporarily disabled for months. During this time, she was unable to work, leaving one source of income for my family. As she physically healed from her extensive injuries, we began to notice that there was something else going on. Something more serious.

For the past few months, after recovering quite well from the car wreck, my mother has started to lose all feeling and function in her body, only being able to experience pain. She is unable to walk or use her hands at the moment. This means that she has to have assistance with everything. Everything.

I can’t tell you how heartbreaking it is to see my mom like this. Every day could be different, or it could be the exact same- neither have been good outcomes these days. She is in bad shape, declining as the days go on. It’s frustrating to not have an answer of yet, but relieving to have a plan with a wonderful group of doctors and caregivers. She’s alive and that’s what we can be thankful for.

As hard as this has been on my family emotionally, we sadly cannot ignore the financial burdens as well. The medical expenses, trips to the doctor, and the amount of supplies needed seem neverending. I have been thinking about starting this up for a while but was afraid to ask for help. My family has always been involved in charity work and volunteer activities of our own, so to push that aside and ask for help ourselves seemed scary and albeit, kind of selfish.

As time went on, however, I realized how much this was needed. I hate to admit it, but I have considered taking leave from school to not only ease the load of caring that other members of my family have to do but ease the financial struggle that college tuition is. Of course, my family would hate that idea. My mom even hates the idea that I have considered starting this GoFundMe and does not really know that I am actually going through with it.

I want to emphasize the fact that I realize it is not always easy to donate money. Any sharing or prayers and good thoughts are appreciated just as much as a donation. While I am not expecting to reach this steep goal, I knew we had to start somewhere and think about the future.

On behalf of my family, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for donating, sharing, or even reading all of this and considering a donation. I know that the road ahead is not an easy one, but with the support system that my family has and the armor of God, my mom will be okay and we will too.
