On the evening of December 27, 2025, a devastating fire on Morlock Street in Livonia, Michigan destroyed the home of the Baur Family. This turned their lives upside down in an instant.
The fire claimed their loving home and everything inside it, leaving Andy, his wife, their son and grandson with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
This home was where Andy was born and raised, and many family heirlooms and irreplaceable items were lost, causing even more heartache. Andy was injured with severe burns while trying to stop the fire and save his family and home. He is now recovering with in-home wound care. Their vehicles were also destroyed in the fire.
The family is temporarily staying with their daughter nearby as they try to process the total loss of their home and belongings. On top of everything, their beloved cat was lost to the fire, adding to their heartbreak.
The fire happened just days after Christmas, and their 10-year-old grandson lost every cherished gift he received, as well as his pet hamster and all his toys, which is incredibly hard for him at such a young age.
This tragedy has left the family with overwhelming and unexpected expenses, including temporary housing, basic living needs like clothing, food, and daily essentials, transportation, and time away from work. The entire family needs a basic wardrobe and outerwear for the brutal Michigan winter.
While they work through the insurance process, they are facing immediate needs and uncertainty about the future. Any support from the community will help them get by during this difficult time and begin to rebuild what was lost.
Thank you for taking the time to help this wonderful family. They would never ask anyone for anything—they have always been the ones helping others. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to them as they navigate this heartbreaking journey.
