Help the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust.
On 22nd June 2024 at 04:00am British Summer Time I hope to be taking off in a GT450 Flexwing microlight aircraft for an epic longest day adventure from the historic WWII Balado airfield.
I plan to solo navigate a route around the entirety of the Scotland mainland plus the Orkney Isles and a smattering of the inner and outer Hebrides before a sunset landing back at Balado (circa 22:00).
In total 30 airfields will be either flown over, approached or landed at including full stop landings at Easter Airfield, Lambs Holm Airfield , Oban Airport and Bute Airfield for refuelling and comfort breaks!
If you would like to follow my journey in realtime then log into the free FlightTracker app at any time on 22 June and search for my callsign (GWAWW)..Golf Whisky Alpha Whisky Whisky.
This is one of the longest solo flights ever attempted in a single day in terms of both endurance and distance. Out of the 18 hours of daylight I will need to spend 14 of them in the air to complete the challenge. I will cover a distance of just over 1,000 statute miles flying at an airspeed just over 70mph.
I have created this fundraising page where I hope to raise money for the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust. Search on my name Eddie McDowell to find the page easily.
Wish me Luck!
