On Saturday afternoon November 26th, the Barthel family returned home from a grocery shopping trip to discover their beautiful home engulfed in dark plumes of smoke. After tireless efforts by local emergency response teams, the structure remains standing but most of the contents will likely be rendered unsalvagable.

While we are grateful that Katie, Rich, their two young sons Calvin (9), Emmett (6) and their sweet dog are all safe, we are gutted over the enormity of their loss. Their home is the product of countless hours of DIY home renovations. To witness their hard work erased in a matter of hours is devastating.

The road ahead will be emotionally and financially fraught. The Barthels need our help to cover their additional living expenses while they work through the daunting process of remediating the damages and seeking temporary housing.
