Help the Barlow Family Honor Takoda's Memory

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Grandson Takoda Barlow, oldest son of our daughter Desiree and her husband Curtis. Takoda was 22 years old, a shining star who bravely fought Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a debilitating disease that gradually took away his strength and mobility for years. Takoda enjoyed listening to music and watching the Veggietales TV series. He was fond of coloring and drawing and eating KFC. He also loved to laugh, he was kind, compassionate and gentle. The name "Takoda" has Sioux origins and means "friend to everyone" and "ally to all".

Despite facing immense challenges, Takoda never gave up hope. He remained positive and enjoyed spending time with his parents, brothers and sisters. His courage and resilience inspired us all.

Takoda's parents and siblings rallied together to make his life as comfortable as possible.

Takoda has a special place in our hearts and although he has passed, we still have hope and comfort knowing that he is with God in heaven, at peace. We are heartbroken but also filled with gratitude for the beautiful memories we have shared.

We are setting up this GoFundMe to help the Barlows cover the costs of Takoda's funeral, as well as to support them through this difficult time.

The funds raised will be used to cover Takoda's funeral services, memorial costs, and related expenses for family members. Any funds left over will be donated to muscular dystrophy research or support.

We know that no amount of money can replace the loss of Takoda, but we hope that this fundraiser will help ease some of the financial burden on the Barlow family.
