Help the Barbers of Midtown Barbershop DC

Midtown Barbershop is at the heart of the community in Washington, DC. In normal times, customers walk to the shop from Manor Park and Brightwood and drive from all around DC and the Maryland suburbs. These are not normal times.

For the past 25 years, the barbers of Midtown Barbershop have cut thousands of heads on Kennedy St., NW - fathers, sons, brothers, grandfathers, aunties, students and many more. In fact, one of our former customers is now a nurse in NYC fighting Covid-19. The barbers of Midtown Barbershop not only cut hair, they are the ones typically helping others - coaching youth sports or volunteering in support of the Kennedy St. business community.  Today, we need your help. These are not normal times.

We have started a GoFundMe campaign to support the barbers of Midtown Barbershop who can’t work until Covid-19 relents and the city allows barbershops to reopen.
If you are financially able to, we invite you to support your Midtown’s barbers through this sudden loss of income. Any donation, however big or small, will help us get through this tough time.  Even now though, the community remains on our mind.

For each gift of $25 or more, an educational toy will be donated to a child in need. With special thanks to Little Likes Kids™, founded by the mom of a Midtown Barbershop regular, for supplying the first 100 toys to kickstart this campaign. We appreciate you!

Thank you, Leon Harris, Midtown Barbershop regular and NBC4 News anchor for identifying our charity of choice: The Homeless Children’s Playtime Project partners with homeless shelters in Washington, D.C., to create safe and fun play spaces for the children where they live. Harnessing the power of play, the group ensures children experiencing family homelessness do not miss out on critical learning and early development skills that only play can provide.

Also, thank you, Leon Harris, and NBC4 news reporter Corey Smith for generously publicizing this campaign through your social media!

These are not normal times. But, as always, we appreciate you!
