Help the Baptists- (Lainey Klopstein)

Donation protected
For anyone who doesn't know the Baptist family: they are The Caretakers.  They are always willing to help because it is the right thing to do and never expect anything in return.  Jess is a nurse who has made a career in mental health/addiction and is active in the community.  She is also a veteran and one tough cookie.  Derrick is the nicest man who always goes out of his way to help and never let's his disability hold him back.  They are going through a very tough time right now and could use some helpers of their own.

So, January 2nd, Lainey (Jess's daughter) lost consciousness briefly before school. She sighed and what I thought was a dramatic sitting end up being her “passing out” for a few seconds. To me, it felt like minutes. When she came around she seemed fine. She had no recollection of the incident. Me, after calling my sister and our RN brains, brushed it off to a vasovagal response to her sigh.
Fast forward to January 12th... Lainey was at her Dad’s and I picked her up at around 11:00 for a family event at my cousin’s home in Appleton. Her Dad told me that she wasn’t feeling the best but wanted to go. That day LAINEY DIDN’T EAT.... anyone who knows Lainey knows something is up... she eats as much as two grown men! But she pushed through and had a pleasant time with one of her favorite cousins.
Sunday night she went to bed early by choice... odd again. Monday morning she was crying saying she had a headache and didn’t think she could go to school. Me being the “mean mom” that I am told her she needed to try. I took her to my parents house like always. Before 6:15 am I had a text from my Mom saying she couldn’t send Lainey to school. She had a fever and was crying. Ok... this is a kid that lives with migraines... so she stayed home. Next morning the same.
She then started waking up every night with pain. Thursday the 17th, we went to the Dr. Enough was enough.
Dr. Thought it was her migraines... put her on a short course of prednisone. No relief.
The following Wednesday we went in to have labs drawn and Thursday we were back at the Dr. No answers. No relief.
Even gave her a shot of toradol.
So here we were Sunday night. No better than when this whole thing started. Labs looked good. CT of her brain was good. I made the decision we couldn’t do this anymore. I need my baby girl back. To the ER we went. More labs drawn. IV hydration and migraine cocktail along with other meds. And she lost consciousness again in the ER with me and the RN. So scary! The RN and I both had to yell for help. When she came to with about 8-10 people around her she was looking at me and said, “what the heck is going on?” Again no recollection.
Dr made the call to have her admitted and here we are... MRI was done and Lumbar Puncture with sedation scheduled for this morning.
Still no clear picture and a referral to Pediatric Neurology in Madison has been made but we are here for now.
Jess just started a new job in September so as you can imagine, she doesn't have much paid time off. Also, FMLA doesn’t kick in until September.  Lainey's dad is disabled and only works part time. Her Step-Dad is disabled and can’t work. Jess is the breadwinner and needs to be with Lainey in the hospital.  They are always giving to others, it's time we came together to help them.
