Help the Bakers recover from almost losing their family :(

My name is Lisa and I am a long time friend of Jen and Scott, long before their journey to start a family began. I have watched them experience joy and grief for years, trying to build the family that they have always wanted. The challenges that they have faced are enormous, well beyond any challenge anyone should be given. They always come through these challenges with grace and gratitude, and are always ready to help others even while experiencing their own challenges. I don't know how they continue to stay positive when the world seems against them!

Yesterday 3 members of their beautiful family were almost taken away from them by a reckless driver. The children were in the car with Scott, when they were hit in a 100km zone by a driver doing an illegal U-turn. By some miracle they took their larger family car, instead of a smaller car that would usually be used for trips with a couple of members of the family. If they were in the smaller car they would usually take, they would not have survived a side on hit at 100 km/h.

Thankfully they have all survived as in the heavier car. However Scott is still in hospital, and the vehicle they heavily rely on to move their beautiful family around looks to be a write-off.

As we all know most insurance with older cars doesn’t cover replacement value, so they won't be able to afford a car that can fit their whole family. This is incredibly important because the children have many medical appointments to attend, and often they all need to go together so need a vehicle that can carry them. Without this car all of these medical appointments are going to be incredibly difficult.

Let's add to this the fact they have a beautiful new five week old baby, who has completed their family. At a time when Jen is struggling to recover from birth while juggling a new baby and the five children, this is a huge blow to lose Scott's ability to help at home for how long we don't know.

So I have started this go fund me to try and help raise funds to get them a vehicle as soon as possible, so they can continue to provide the care for their family they always do. They will get some funds back from insurance, but not even close to enough to replace the vehicle that has been destroyed by a reckless driver.
