On Monday, March 23 around 5:30, the Baker family's world changed in an instant. Benji and Taylor had just left to take Kai to baseball practice, while Ja was relaxing in her room after a long day at high school. Suddenly, the house went dark as smoke from the woodstove filled the rooms. Ja was able to escape and alert her grandparents next door. Despite the immediate response from friends, neighbors, and Benji's step-father, the fire spread rapidly and destroyed their home.

The Baker family—Benji, Taylor, Ja, and Kai—are hard-working people who live for their family and their faith. Their urgent needs have been met by an incredible outpouring of support from the community, and they are staying with family next door while cleanup progresses.
