Help the Baker Family fight their biggest battle

Donation protected

We would like to tell you about three amazing people - Sean, Emma and Noah Baker, the challenges they are about to face, and the ones they have faced previously. To this day Sean and Emma have been unwavering in their support of Noah and each other but they are now facing their greatest challenge yet.

On Monday 26th October 2020, Sean (age 35) was diagnosed with Stage 4 Bowel Cancer and Liver metastasis (secondary cancer). To complicate this further Sean’s bowel was almost completely obstructed by the tumour and required urgent surgery. Following this, Sean was given the devastating news that his Cancer is incurable and that his Wife Emma & 4 year old son Noah would need to prepare for a life without him in it.

Sean is a wonderful father to Noah, husband to Emma, a son, a son in law, a brother, a brother in law, an uncle, a friend to many and the main financial provider for his family. His wife Emma is the main carer for their 4 year old son Noah, who has a serious heart condition.

At 24 weeks pregnant they found out about Noah’s rare heart condition, Truncus Arteriosus. At just 4 weeks old, Noah faced his first open heart surgery. During another OHS at 9 weeks old Noah had a cardiac arrest, resulting in the surgeon performing cardiac massage to bring him back. Noah did not come home from hospital until after he was five months old. He suffered many surgical complications that greatly affect him today and will for the rest of his life. This roller coaster of emotions and operations has continued for the last four years - Noah has had 12 surgeries (including 3 OHS & 6 stent dilations) which have all been performed in Melbourne at great personal and financial strain to both Sean and Emma.

Like most parents, the hard work and sacrifice Sean has made over his short life for his family has been amazing but now he finds himself in a position where he currently can not provide for his family. Despite the challenges ahead and strength needed by Sean to fight his Cancer, all he is focussed on is how he can provide Noah and Emma the best life when he is gone.

As a result of extensive chemotherapy treatment in order to give the Bakers as much time together as possible, Sean is currently unable to work due to the extreme pain that he is in. In addition to being a carer for Noah, Emma currently works 2 days a week whilst managing Noah’s multiple hospital appointments and admissions (5 admissions in the last 3 months). Due to her responsibilities as a mother & carer for Noah, and now carer for her husband also, Emma is currently having some time away from work.

Without Sean and Emma’s income, they will face great financial burden, difficulty paying medical bills, household bills, and the possibility of losing their family home.

If you could please help in any way, it would go a long way to easing the Baker Family’s burdens and allow them the time to be together as a family for as long as they can.

Sean is a very independent and proud family man, and was reluctant to this fundraiser being started. He is very grateful for any type of help that will make his, and his family’s life simpler and less stressful during this difficult time.

Thank you for your support and please keep Sean and his family in your thoughts.

With love from, Jaime Carr, Alex Bell, Ashleigh van Heerde, Samantha Beardsell, and Gary & Cathy McPhee XOXOXO
