Dogfighting BAIT DOG Needs Help With Vet Bills

I found this poor sweet mama in the middle of a forest in Florida. She had clearly been dumped there and had been on her own for some time. She was emaciated, covered in fleas and open wounds and was dehydrated in the Florida heat & humidity. What's worse is she she was pregnant. Her nipples were swollen and misshapen, and her teeth.. her poor teeth were evidence of the abuse she has suffered in her short life. Many of her teeth are gone entirely. Others appear to have been cut when parts of her gums were cut in a horrendous act of violence. Her lower jaw..well that's partially missing. She's a sad case to be sure.. yet despite all that, she is an angel of a dog. She is sweet, obedient, and very loving. She knows several commands sit/stay/kennel and has clearly been trained before. By posting a photo on a local forum, we learned some history about her..She was a dog fighting bait dog who had been re-homed several times. Most likely for aggression toward other dogs. In my care she has shown fear and avoidance to my 3 medium/large breed dogs and has been an asset guarder when they are near. I have kept them separated, but it is not a long-term plan. My hope is to find her a PERMANENT forever home in a single-dog residence so she will never again have to face the injustices of the world at the hands of humans.

 

My goal is to raise funds to support her vet bills while I continue to look for an appropriate home so she doesn't have to endure the terrifying experience of being alone in a concrete or metal shelter kennel, possibly never getting out.

 

Despite the large social media outreach, I have only received a few emails about her. ={ Local shelters and the humane society have been contacted, to no avail. I do not have the ability to keep her long-term due to my other dogs and financial restraints. Any funds raised for her will go to her care. If she is accepted by a kennel or rescue, the funds will be donated as sponsorship money to her care.

She will most likely need some sort of jaw reconstruction which could be upwards of several thousand dollars. We will not know until after she has had her puppies and can have a more thorough examination.

 

 

Adoption Requirements:

-Single dog home

-Financially stable (she may have special needs. Will know after she is seen by a vet)

-No HOA breed restrictions (bully breed)

-Experience caring for and homing puppies. (she appears to be pregnant)

-Experience with abused dogs welcome but not necessary

-Located in Florida preferred
