Help the Awaijanes Rebuild Lake St Stop n Shop

Donation protected
The Twin Cities community is mourning the murder of George Floyd and expressing their intolerance of police brutality and systemic racial injustice in this country.

Cindy and Assad Awaijane’s Stop and Shop has been a staple of the Lake street community for over 17 years. The husband and wife have been together since high school, shortly after Assad immigrated to the United States from Lebanon. The two and their family have dedicated much of their life to their business.

A result of needing to stand up to the intolerance was 2 nights of destruction to their family business. Further exemplifying the excessive force by the Minneapolis police, on Saturday May 30th the Awaijane family was met with pepper spray and rubber bullets while trying to defend their property, as seen in the video here  (starting around 11 minutes).

The family has felt immense gratitude for the community who has already showed up with brooms to help restore their family business. Thank you for your consideration of a donation to help them restore and get back to serving the Lake Street community.

If you have the means, please also consider helping their cousin’s store, which has also been heavily impacted. Their GoFundMe page can be found here
