Help The Anchor raise money for a Defibrillator
Donation protected
We are raising money to purchase a Defibrillator for the The Anchor Danbury to cover the Eastern edge of Danbury Village.
Presently all two Defibrillators in the village are located on the Western side.
Around 30,000 people each year suffer a sudden cardiac arrest. A cardiac arrest can affect anyone at any time – from young children at school, to adults when they’re at home, work or out in public places. Without the correct treatment, cardiac arrests are often fatal, with The British Heart Foundation’s figures revealing that only one in ten victims survive. However, the chance of surviving a cardiac arrest jumps from 6% to 74% if the casualty is in a shockable rhythm and a defibrillator is deployed within 3 minutes
This past year life has been very unusual. Some of us have began new hobbies or jobs, practised new skills and found old ones during the continuing lockdowns.
The most surprising new hobby to us at The Anchor Danbury, is Louise & Charlotte taking up running back in January. For those of you who know both ladies, you will know this is not their 'usual' style.
It began with Couch to 5K, as Louise and Charlotte began running around the car park initially in 3 minute intervals. Round and round they ran until they reached 10minutes straight and decided to branch out into the village. Soon they were reaching 3K and then eventually they hit the 5K mark with a run from The Anchor to Maldon high-street. Their newest record is 7K, having run door-to-door from The Anchor to The Queens Head Maldon.
In order to raise money, they will attempt to run 10K at the Colchester Stampede, which takes place at Colchester Zoo and the surrounding area.
The stampede also raises money for Colchester Zoo's own charity, Action for the Wild which assists wildlife projects worldwide. It provides both financial and technical assistances and aims to raise awareness among local people in community conservation programmes.
