FERA ANIMA - CREATION OF A WILDLIFE RESCUE AND REHABILITATION CENTER
Fera Anima is a Swiss non-profit organization, its aim is to help wild animals in the Amazon rainforest through the construction of a rescue and research center.
What is a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center ?
A facility that rescues injured wild animals and provides them with the care they need. Our center will have a veterinary clinic with an emergency and hospitalization area, a quarantine section and a nursery for orphans. Before going back to the wild, animals must meet several criteria to be considered releasable - such as being able to find their own food and avoid predators.
Why the Amazon rainforest ?
The center will be located in the Amazon rainforest : a biodiversity hotspot greatly threatened by anthropogenic activities such as poaching, illegal trafficking, electrocution, road traffic accidents, attacks by domestic animals and loss of natural habitat.
The solutions Fera Anima brings :
- The creation of a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center including a full veterinary hospital equipped with the latest laboratory technology, run by a team of wildlife care professionals. We want to maximize the chances of rescued animals returning to the wild with the appropriate facilities, methods and protocols centered around release.
- The protection of wild animals via the construction of wildlife bridges, protection of power lines, waste removal in key areas and neutering campaigns to limit attacks by domesticated animals on wildlife.
- The creation of an educational center to build public awareness on environmental issues via targeted actions with local communities and tourists. These actions will offer alternative solutions to wildlife and environmental exploitation, as well as professional training in the field of conservation. Raising awareness on the importance of protecting wildlife and the environment is essential for a better coexistence between humans and wild animals.
- The rewilding of areas that will be equipped with research stations in order to test and improve the quality and health of the ecosystems. In parallel, these research stations will conduct post-release monitoring to ensure the success of each animal release.
What will the funds be used for ?
We need your help to carry out all the actions listed above !
