On Tuesday March 10, 2026 around 6:30p.m., a powerful EF-3 tornado tore through Kankakee County, Illinois, leaving devastation across the community.

Sadly, Gretchen & Josh Allen’s home of more than 15 years in Aroma Park was directly in the storm’s path, & the damage caused has been heartbreaking.

The tornado severely damaged the front portion of their home, leaving it unlivable & forcing the family to suddenly relocate. Gretchen & Josh, along with their young-adult son, Gavin, & their 4 beloved cats, are temporarily staying in a local hotel while they wait for major repairs to begin.

The storm also caused irreparable damage to their vehicles. Two of their cars were declared total losses after being struck by fallen trees & large hail. The remaining two vehicles are older & were also heavily damaged in the storm, making the Allen's reliable transportation for their daily commutes a huge burden & source of stress.

Like many families impacted by natural disasters, the Allens are now facing a long list of unexpected expenses, including:

We set a goal of $25,000 to help cover insurance deductibles, temporary housing, replacing two totaled vehicles, & repairing the portions of their home that were crushed by the tornado.

While Josh & Gretchen are incredibly grateful that their family and community are safe, the road to rebuilding their lives will take time & support.
