My name is Anna Johnson. From 2014-2017, I worked with a humanitarian organization in Palestine/Israel and was privileged to visit Gaza a number of times. One of my dear friends from Gaza is trying to help her brother Suheil and his family start a new life after the devastation they have experienced in Gaza. This is their story...
The Alhamalawy family have endured over a year of genocide in Gaza. Suheil, his wife Olfat and their four children Feras (21), Mena (19), Younis (15), and Yazan (12) need to escape Gaza to Egypt to try to build a new life. Suhail was once a shop-owner in the Gaza Strip - providing his community with the necessities they needed. His children all had dreams of studying and building a future in Gaza. However, in October 2023, those dreams became a nightmare. Suheil's shop was destroyed, a shop that provided the family with income to survive. Their home has also been bombed which injured both Feras and Younis. The family is now surviving in Gaza without shelter or access to education - and with their only means of income destroyed, they do not have the means to raise money to get to Egypt.
Can you help? The money raised will go towards exit fees to get to Egypt (about 5K/person) and funds to start their life in Egypt, including sending the boys to school. Donate now to help the Alhamalawy family build a new life in Egypt. Every little bit counts!
