HELP SUPPORT THE AITKEN FAMILY DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME

I am the daughter of Stefanie and Brian Aitken. My mom, Stefanie, is a well-respected mail carrier in Lititz. My dad, Brian, has been in the hospital for a staph infection that originated in his hip/buttock area since July 11, and the pain starting the 8th. We found out over the 9 days he was there that he has a blood infection spreading throughout his body causing blood clots in his lungs, and a film of the bacteria around his heart. It has caused him to have a hard time doing basic things such as walking, which he is using a walker now. He also struggles to do basic things because of this infection. It took 5 different antibiotics until they were able to find one that could kill the infection, and right now he is taking the antibiotics and pain medicine. My family is hoping for the antibiotics to kill the bacteria. Along with this, he has had other health issues that started in February. He has had issues with his bladder, and he has 3 bone spurs in his left shoulder, causing him to develop arthritis. I am starting this GoFundMe for my family because my dad is the main income of my household, and with all these issues, he has been unable to work since May 23. He has exhausted his vacation + sick leave pay. My mom works full time and has exhausted her annual leave and sick time to care for my dad and make trips to the hospital. I wanted to help lessen the burden on my family with incoming medical bills and household bills by creating this. I would like my mom to be able to help take care of my dad and be there for him without having to stress too much about bills.

Medical - $20,000 (estimated cost after insurance)

Household - $15,000 (groceries, utilities, Morgage for the next few months)

he has ongoing issues that will take time to go through. He has two upcoming surgeries, one being for his bladder to check for cancer and the second for removing the bone spurs in his shoulder. This will require my mom to be off which she will not be paid for.

UPDATE 7/22/25

He has been able to be discharged home since Monday the 21. He is going to be continuing the antibiotics by IV for 4 weeks to hopefully flush the bacteria out of his blood, which he is going to receive weekly blood draws to make sure the antibiotics are working, and he will be receiving in home nursing care. My mom will have to go to work, while also having to help out my dad a majority. He will be having 3 follow up appointments as of right now to reschedule surgery dates.
