Hello, my name is Shannon Abbott, Chad’s wife.

Our family recently received news that turned our world upside down. After feeling unwell and going through a series of tests, my husband, Chad Abbott, was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer in February that is spreading faster than we hoped it would. We are still waiting to learn exactly what type it is and what the treatment options are, and the uncertainty has been overwhelming.

For twenty years, he has been part of the Anchorage community, working hard running his business and providing for our family. He has always been the sole provider, and like many small business owners, he poured everything he had into his work and, most importantly, his customers. His business has never just been a job—it has been his way of serving people and being part of this community day and night.

Because of his condition and the treatments ahead, he is no longer able to work. Overnight, our family has gone from stability to facing medical bills, daily and monthly expenses, and the uncertainty of what comes next.

We also have a son with three years left in high school, and our greatest hope is simply to keep life as steady as possible for him during this incredibly difficult time. My husband has always worked so hard to support his family, and one of his biggest worries right now is the thought of leaving his wife and son struggling.

Asking for help is not easy for us because we were the people others came to for help, but many friends have encouraged us to reach out. If you know him, you know he has spent years showing up for others in this community and took great pride in his work. Now we are hoping the community that has meant so much to him might be willing to show up for him.

We will be selling whatever we can to help keep us afloat through this uncertain journey, the time we have left, and to keep a roof over our heads. I wish that could be enough.
