As you may have heard, a few days ago a number of pigs were released onto the A127 which is a very busy dual carriageway. As you can imagine mayhem ensued resulting in the road being closed for many hours as attempts to round them up were conducted

8 Pigs were successfully herded onto a trailer but sadly 5 were shot as they were proving difficult to catch and there was pressure to reopen the road :(

It was subsequently discovered that one more had hidden in a garden and was due to be shot earlier this week - however we were contacted and managed to fetch her before that happened - see Abigail's story on our social media

The other 8 were taken to a temporary holding pen on the understanding that they would be rehomed

Unfortunately these rehoming efforts failed and so they were earmarked for slaughter on Tuesday this week

We will do what we can to help save them from this fate but we do need more people to support the sanctuary going forward as we need to generate enough from donations to cover all the feed and bedding costs, In recent years as those who follow our financial update posts will know, support continues to fall following the covid years and difficult economic situation

Please help save the A127 pigs by donating here and best of all if you are able to support with a monthly donation (from just £1) this will enable us to continue to care for the animals we have rescued from slaughter

Thank you
