Help the Silvestris Stand Strong Against Cancer
Donation protected
Last November our father, Michael Silvestri Sr., noticed a lump in his neck. Being late into the fall, he had originally thought that this was due to a seasonal bug like he tended to get every year while delivering mail. He dismissed his initial worry thinking it would go away as soon as winter came along. It did not and by December the lump had grown larger and started to cause noticeable pain. A lone trip to the doctor turned into multiple trips to many doctors and he was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer of the tongue and lymph nodes. The formal medical diagnosis is oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma with left neck necrotic lymph nodes.
Our dad has diligently worked as a mail carrier, through many crises like the death of our mother and poor working conditions, to put food on the table. Going forward, however, he will be unable to work while undergoing his cancer treatment. This leaves him with gaps of income to take care of day-to-day necessities and these gaps will only get wider with time. This doesn't even include treatment which is set to begin in early February. Dad will be going through seven weeks of radiation with chemotherapy.
Any donation towards this fundraiser would be greatly appreciated. If you cannot donate then spreading the word and sharing our link would be appreciated as well. Our dad has always been a punny goofball ready to brighten up our lives and he's already sacrificed a great deal for us. We feel it's our duty now to try and help secure a future for him as best as we can.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and if you have any questions please reach out to us.
