We are volunteers that are building an airplane that will be used to introduce young people to aviation careers through our free Young Eagles flight program, and create the camaraderie of working together on a quality project.
Our chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 797 in Live Oak, Florida, received a donation of an airplane that was damaged and missing an engine. Our experienced group leader, Allen, has built several aircraft in the past, and has applied his knowledge and time to organizing the plans and shop equipment to rebuild our present airplane. Every Saturday morning, our team of volunteers learn new woodworking and metal working techniques as the wings and fuselage of the airplane are rebuilt from scratch. When finished, the airplane will be registered with the FAA and named 797 Flyer.
We are in need of an engine, covering materials, tires, and brakes in order to finish the aircraft. A used 80 hp Jabaru engine would be a possibility, at an estimated cost of $7,000. Covering materials and paint would cost about $5,000. Tires and brakes would be about $2,000. If we were able to raise $14,000 we would be able to finish the 797 Flyer and get it airborne!
Please donate to our cause and help us create an aircraft that will soar in the Florida skies, while building camaraderie among our EAA members.
