“Hope After Hurricane Melissa: Helping a Family Start Over”
We are organizing this fundraiser to help members of our 2Lit community in Jamaica who were devastated by Hurricane Melissa. They’ve lost their homes, their belongings, and access to food, water, and power. Our goal is to come together as a community and make sure they’re not left behind
When Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica, it left behind more than wreckage, it left families standing in the ruins of what used to be their homes. Our loved ones were among them. Many have lost everything — their home, their clothing, their food, their supplies — even the comfort of clean water and light.
Right now, they are surviving day to day without power or running water, with limited access to food, and nowhere safe to stay. The roads are still blocked in many areas, making relief slow to arrive.
This GoFundMe is being created to help multiple family members start rebuilding their lives from the ground up — to cover:
- Temporary shelter and basic necessities
- Food, clean drinking water, and hygiene supplies
- Clothing, bedding, and personal care items
- Home repairs once rebuilding becomes possible
Every dollar you give goes directly toward getting them the essentials to survive and the tools to rebuild. Even a small donation can make a real impact — $10 buys clean water, $25 feeds a family for a few days, and $100 helps cover temporary housing or building materials.
We can’t rebuild what was lost overnight, but with your help, we can bring back hope.
