Help the 1905 stay ALIVE

My name Is Dominick “Domo” Branch, drummer, composer & educator from Portland, Oregon. To get straight to the point, The 1905 needs our help right now. COVID hit this business extremely hard and the club is holding by its last limbs. To create long-term success for the club, we need as much help and support as possible.

The 1905 is the ONLY Jazz club in Portland that is open 7 nights a week. As it has grown, the community in Portland has grown. The 1905 has been a home for most if not all musicians in Oregon, and has become a home for many other world-class musicians; Kenny Garrett, Mono Neon, and Brian Blade.

In many eyes of the Portland community, The 1905 is recognized as the only place to cultivate musicians of all ages to come together to hang, play and watch music. It has also been recognized by Downbeat magazine for being “One of the top jazz clubs in the world!”

One of the biggest reasons why The 1905 is so important, is the staff. The hospitality is unbelievable. The staff is super friendly and kind to the musicians and to the audience. This is VERY unusual in a music setting, especially in the jazz world. The staff at the 1905 make you feel at home and respected. They complete the experience of your evening at the 1905.

The initial push is to raise $50,000 for the most immediate needs. Ultimately, we are needing to raise $200,000. Your donations will allow time for our team, including Wynton Marsalis and Sarah Schafer to help design and implement new systems enabling longevity for the 1905.

Specifically, your donations will be used for:

Employee compensation

Artist compensation

Paying ongoing business expenses (utilities, equipment repair, etc)

Please donate whatever you can. We NEED this club in Portland! We NEED your help and your support, and We NEED to continue live music in Portland.
