I am asking for money to fund my final year at Columbia University. Due to the pandemic I have not been able to find employment or finance loans to wrap up school. This support is to bridge me through and help me finish my education.
I am a hardworking, dedicated and ambitious Christian, Daughter, Friend, Student and hr professional. I am a Caribbean born American, family breadwinner and counselor. I would never in a million years think that I would reach out and request help through Gofundme.
This year is what I hope to be my final year in graduate school. Prior to COVID I worked full-time as an HRBP (People Operations) and pursued my masters part-time. I have been unable to find employment since COVID impacted my last position. However, I am determined to make it across the finish line, and I will pull others across it with me.
I think its a privilege to be an hr professional. I am fortunate to be apart of the most significant professional milestones of someone’s career: hiring, development and advising on career challenges. I’ve faced career challenges myself. I was fired from my first job at a tech company, because I was not a cultural fit. I was advised that to be successful in my career, not to make waves, observe and swim under the radar.
I can testify that I would not be where I am today if I was not willing to make any waves. Through my challenges, my goal in life has always been to maximize my potential and be a representation of what can be possible through perseverance and hardwork
Through my career I want to create opportunities for other people. I want others to see what is possible through my experience. My plan is to be a symbol of validation and representation—to make meaningful impact.
Thank you for reading. Your donations, sharing of this fundraiser, and prayers would greatly be appreciated.
