Hi everyone, my name is Thais Silva, and I am a PhD student in Animal Science. I came from Brazil to the U.S. to pursue my dream of becoming a researcher.

Recently, I’ve been going through a very difficult time with my health. I’ve been experiencing syncope episodes that may be seizures, and I had to go to the Emergency Department because of that. At the hospital, my blood pressure was high, and the doctors recommended that I follow up with both a neurologist and a cardiologist for further evaluation. It has been frightening and emotionally overwhelming, especially being far from my family and support system.

I still need to see a neurologist and do additional tests and follow-up care to understand what’s happening and get proper treatment. Unfortunately, as an international student, my insurance doesn’t cover all these medical expenses, and it has been challenging to manage them on my own.

I’m raising funds to help cover these medical costs, including specialist appointments, neurological exams, and any necessary treatment. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will truly make a difference and help me take care of my health while continuing my studies.
