Thais Toro is such a bright light in this world. She brings so much joy to each and every person who is lucky enough to cross her path. She gives so freely to anyone in need. And now she could really use our help.
The most important thing to Thais is her family. She has lived in the US for almost 30 years without them. She talks to them and supports them every day from afar. She has earned two Master's Degrees and built a highly successful career in events. But doing it all without your family is lonely.
For years, Thais worked tirelessly and spent thousands of dollars to help bring her brother and his family to the US. And in July of 2023, she finally succeeded! They are here! And they came here legally.
Under the Trump administration, their status is now in jeopardy. The protected status granted to them under the Biden administration was recently canceled by the Trump administration. Her family's legal status is now set to expire in July 2025.
While heartbroken, Thais does not give up. Toro is indeed a bull. She has met with several lawyers to pursue all legal paths to keep her brother and his family in the US. At the moment, there is one legal path they can pursue, the student visa. So, Thais has spent the last week helping to enroll her brother and his son in college to extend their protected status. She has spent well over $7,000 in just a few short days, and that does not include the legal bills and upcoming needs for applications, tuition, etc.
It would be heartbreaking for all involved if they were sent back to Venezuela. Anything you can do to support Thais and her family during this time would be so appreciated. She would never ask for anything on her behalf. But for those who know her, we clearly see and can understand the toll this is taking on her emotionally and financially. She really can use all the support we can give.
Thank you for your consideration!
