My niece Teyha Castro, a young gymnast, suffered a traumatic femur fracture during a simple round-off at gymnastics practice. While treating the break, doctors discovered a tumor at the fracture site, raising concerns about possible cancer. She was transferred to a specialized hospital where surgeries were delayed until cancer could be ruled out. To stabilize her leg, surgeons placed metal plates while biopsy results were rushed.
After several painful and stressful days, doctors confirmed the tumor is benign. Although this brought relief, Teyha has undergone multiple surgeries and now faces a long recovery, requiring mobility equipment and significant support at home.
Her mother Alex Geogea , a single parent and DSUSD security worker, has taken time off to care for Teyha, resulting in lost income while also supporting her teenage son. This GoFund Me has been organized to provide financial assistance to help the family during Teyha’s recovery.
