Help Teyanee Recover from a Devastating Break-In

Hello, my name is Teyanee, and I am 27 years old. For the past few years, I’ve been working two jobs — at a dental office and a hospital — while also putting in countless hours to fix up a home I purchased through the Detroit Land Bank. The house was in poor condition when I bought it, but I didn’t let that stop me. I worked tirelessly for three years, fixing it up and making it a place I could finally call my own.

After all my hard work, I felt proud to move in. I was living on my own in a home that I had built up from scratch, and it was one of my greatest accomplishments. I finally felt comfortable and safe.

But everything changed on December 4, 2024.

While I was at work, my home was broken into by three people. They took everything — my clothes, shoes, purses, tools, electronics, TVs — even the things I had worked so hard to collect over the years. In an instant, I lost everything that made my house feel like home.

I’m devastated. The sense of security I once had is gone, and now I am living in constant fear. This has left me emotionally crushed, and I am struggling with PTSD. I feel unsafe living in the home I fought so hard for, and my confidence has been shattered.

I’m reaching out for help, as I need to move to a new place and get back on my feet. I’m asking for funds to help cover moving expenses, and to secure a new place to live while I work toward selling my home. All of my hard work has been taken away from me, and I’m just trying to find peace and safety again.
