Howdy Y’all! My name is Cadel Beasley, and I’m an Eagle Scout with Troop 280 in Dripping Springs, Texas. I’m 14 years old and a freshman at Dripping Springs High School. Scouting has been a huge part of my life for many years, and in 2026 I have the incredible opportunity to attend two once-in-a-lifetime adventures: a 12-day, 100-mile backpacking trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and Summer Camp in Maine!
These adventures represent the best of what Scouting has to offer—leadership, teamwork, outdoor skills, and personal challenge. I’ve worked hard to make the most of my time in Scouting: I’ve earned 82 merit badges (and counting!), completed National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT), served as Senior Patrol Leader, and have completed two significant conservation projects for the Dripping Springs Parks Service, which allowed me to earn both the Harrison McClure Conservation Award and the Distinguished Conservation Service Award—honors achieved by only a handful of Scouts each year. I also hold the record for most camping nights among all 67 active Scouts in my troop!
In addition to posting flags for our troop’s main fundraiser, I’m seeking a little extra help this year. Both adventures are happening in the same summer, and I’ll also need to upgrade my gear for the Philmont trek. Between the trip costs (about $1,600 each) and new equipment (around $1,000), my goal is $4,000.
Scouting continues to shape me as a leader and inspire my future goals. I plan to attend a U.S. military academy after graduation and pursue medical school, so that I can serve my country as both a leader and physician.
If you’d like to support me in these adventures, your contribution—no matter the size—will go directly toward helping me reach these goals. I’m deeply grateful for any help, encouragement, or advice you can offer as I continue to grow as a Scout, leader, and future servant of my country.
Thank you for being part of my adventure!
– Cadel
