Hi everyone!
As many of you already know, I received an acceptance letter from Harvard University back in early March for an opportunity to attend their one year Masters in Education program for the 2021-22 academic year. I am excited to have the opportunity to be working with students from all over the world and from different walks of life in the Learning Design, Innovation, and Technology program, where we will tackle the challenges of an ever-growing field of educational technology and learn how to incorporate the science of learning and pedagogy to drive stronger student outcomes.
I am passionate about teaching and I can't think of anything else I would rather do in my life. By pursuing this Masters program, I hope to explore and gain more knowledge in a different sphere of education and bridge together what I have learned from my classroom experience during the past five years. My goal is to find and help create new innovative ways to enhance our teaching practices so that it better supports all students in the classroom.
I am fortunate to have also received some financial aid through the Graduate School of Education and was selected to be a part of the Saul Zaentz Fellows Program, which is dedicated towards students who are interested and have been involved in Early Childhood Education.
Although I feel fortunate to have received some financial aid, the tuition and living expenses of attending a university so far away from home is costly. Another aspect that many of you don't know is that throughout my years teaching at Vallecito, I have had to help out my parents financially. They have been huge supporters of mine throughout my entire life and I want to return the favor. Without any additional source of income from me next year, I worry about the road that lies ahead for my family. This fund is aimed at helping me pay some of my living expenses while I'm in Boston/Cambridge, while I'm able to continue supporting my family through my own savings.
I know this is A LOT to ask of you at this time, especially since we are all still coming out of the grips of this tragic pandemic. I am so thankful for the kind words of encouragement that I have received since making my decision to pursue this Masters degree. Even if you have the ability to donate just a small contribution towards this fund, I will be eternally grateful.
I appreciate your time and consideration,
Tetsuya
