Help Tetsuro Ozawa fight pancreatic cancer

Donation protected
My friend and one of my favorite Chefs, Tetsuro Ozawa passed away this morning - June 1, 2021. Luckily my husband and I went to see him yesterday. When we saw him, he looked extremely weak and could barely open his eyes but managed to come out of his room to say, almost whisper - thank you for coming. We couldn't and didn't say anything to him. We probably didn't want to cry in front of him. We also couldn't hold his hands because he looked fragile. His wife, Nergui kept whispering to him; be positive, you can do it, you will be fine but quietly sobbing. His twin who just turned one year old about two weeks ago crawled over to look at us with smiles. His little girl who is turning 6 in a few days begged her mom to take her out to the park. Then their girl and we talked about her birthday, zodiac signs and her wishlist for her birthday. We honestly thought Tetsu could make it to her birthday. He believed he could do it and tried harder than we could all imagine. Thank you again for your supports and prayers. Please help us again to reach our goal to help out the Ozawa family. - Amelie Liew

Update: Chef Tetsuro Ozawa has been trying several different Chemotherapy since early January and it has not been very successful. With this ongoing fight, his cancer cel blocked his stomach - he's lost his appetite and weight. He got surgery but it hasn't helped him getting his appetite back. Every time we exchanged texts, he mentioned his twin babies are growing fast and his new hope for new chemo, but sadly his doctor and he decided to stop the chemotherapy. As a long time friend, we are extremely grateful for gofundme company and all these supporters who have donated money for Tetsuro. We will keep you updated. ------ May 30, 2021

Although we are all having a very strange and different year, we still hope our new year 2021 would be better. We are also hoping if you could help the Ozawa family to fight with their devastating stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Tetsuro Ozawa was the head chef in Sanraku restaurant where I used to go. Our family liked to sit in the bar so that we could see him cutting fish. After years of work for the restaurant, in 2016, he finally opened his own dream restaurant, OzaOza, in Japantown, San Francisco. Tetsuro Ozawa is an incredible chef who was trained in Kaiseki in Kyoto. Since OzaOza was one of few fine Kaiseki restaurants we could find in the city, with his beautiful presentation of foods, exceptional service, calm personality, he quickly drew lots of diners’ attentions in a couple years until the event of coronavirus stopped him. During the pandemic, he had to close the restaurant but he and his wife, Nergui were able to enjoy their time with their newborn twins and a 5 years old daughter. After closing for four months, he opened again for pick-up service, but the business was very slow. On top of this, in early December, he found out he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer stage 4. In less than a week, he learned that the cancer has already spread to his lung and bone. Now with the permanent closure of his business, this family has to deal with uncertain daily expenses with the family of five, medical bills, and the heavy fight with his pancreatic cancer and they need our help more than ever.

This fund will help his family with needs for food, housing, and medical bills as the chef was the only person who brought income to this family.

Since January 6th, Tetsuro Ozawa has been undergoing Chemotherapy, and even with some side effects, he's in a good spirit and still hopes to beat the odds for a full recovery.

We greatly appreciate any future helps you are considering for the Ozawa Family and we will make sure the funds are well used for the expenses for the family of five. Thank you so much!

The beneficiary is Tetsu Ozawa's wife, Nergui Gantsetseg and the fund will be transferred to their joint account.
