Hi everyone, my name is Eileen, and I’m fundraising to help our beloved dog Tessa — a 18 month-old golden retriever in training to be an assistance dog for my daughter, who has complex needs.

Tessa has already brought so much comfort and stability to my daughter’s daily life ( and mine). Sadly, back in July, during what should have been a fun family day out at Zip World in Betws-y-Coed, Tessa was attacked by another dog that was let off its lead.

Tessa lay quietly at my feet while I fought the dog off her, completely defenceless and trusting me to protect her. The guilt I still feel to this day is immense.

Despite immediate veterinary care and several courses of antibiotics, her wound became badly infected. She’s since had multiple abscesses and undergone two major surgeries to try to save her leg. We thought she was finally healing, but heartbreakingly, the wound has abscessed again for a third time.

Tessa now urgently needs to see a specialist veterinary surgeon, as the infection has reached the muscle and bone. Without advanced treatment we have been advised there’s nothing more our vet can do.

* To date, I’ve already spent hundreds of pounds on operations, medication, and follow-up appointments — and the costs keep rising. This has been emotionally and financially devastating for our us, the costs keep rising. Unfortunately, North Wales Police and Zip World have been unhelpful, and while Zip World eventually offered £250 toward the vet bill after several weeks, the costs have far surpassed that amount, leaving us to face this situation alone.

Tessa isn’t just a dog — she’s a lifeline for my daughter, helping her cope with anxiety, sensory challenges, and daily routines, they are best friends. Seeing her confused and in pain, and my daughter so distressed, has been truly heartbreaking.

Every penny raised will go directly toward:

• Specialist veterinary consultation and imaging

• Surgery and post-surgical care

• Medication, wound management, and ongoing treatment
