The shumways are battling multiple chronic health issues with almost every member of their family.

Tess has what is called Autonomic Dysfunction. All of her bodies automatic functions are disfunctional. She has Gastroparesis, her stomach does not work to the extent that it needs so she regularly has old rotting food in her stomach. She cannot eat regularly and it has been increasingly hard to find foods that she can eat. Because her stomach struggles to work this has also had an affect to her bowels. She no long can feel her bladder so she doesn't recognize when she needs to go to the bathroom.

She has been battling POTS ( a blood pressure syndrome that causes her to pass out) , every time this happens her brain resets and she ends up loosing little bits of information each time this happens. She has drastically regressed socially , academically and emotionally. She is also still looking for answers as to why he body is attacking itself so drastically.

AD also affects your brain. Tess has cognitive regression, severe depression and anxiety, and insomnia. School has become drastically difficult for her, she only goes for the morning and does on line classes at home with mom and dad so she can hopefully graduate with her twin.

When Tess' dysfunctions are at their worst her legs will have such bad tremors in them she cannot walk. She losses muscle control in her stomach and back so she cannot hold herself up. She gets tremors in her right hand so bad, she cannot hold a pencil at school and cannot put food in her mouth. The tremors last for days and sometimes weeks.

Tess recently had genetic testing done and they have found two genes that have very rare mutations. Both mutations are neurodegenerative.

Aside from this tess is only one of multiple chronically ill children in the house.

Her mom Miriah and dad Casey have 5 children in total. Their youngest Emma and Cooper both have craniosynostosis. They have both had multiple brain surgeries and still have more on the table in the near future. Emma will need her 5th surgery July 7th to do bone grafting to replace an acrylic piece of skull.

Their middle son Wyatt was just diagnosed with adhd.

And Kylie , Tess's twin is battling multiple auto immune disorders including lupus and back issues.

Miriah has kidney disease and Casey been treated mulitple times for skin cancer.

To top all this off.... they don't meet requirements for assistance, both parents work, so everything it out of pocket. They need our help to get Tess to the mayo hospital and to cover medical costs as well.

This family is the most loving and genuine. They need our community to rally around them. So they can get Tess to Mayo Clinic and can all focus on healing and not just what Bill to pay next.
