In February of 2019, Tess Wunderlich was diagnosed with Chordoma—a rare form of cancer that appears in one of every 1,000,000 people. She endured surgery in Salt Lake City and more surgery, plus grueling rounds of radiation at M.D. Anderson in Houston, TX. With the support of family, friends, and strangers, she fought through and came out with no active tumor left! Oh, happy day!!

In the years since, she has prospered: graduating from Weber State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science and working for the Central Lab as a laboratory manager for Intermountain Healthcare. She is a precious daughter to her mother and her partner, her father and step-mother, and an adored big sister to her three “little” brothers.

During her most recent round of follow-up scans, two new lesions were found, not far from where the original tumor was located. These tumors are located on/near delicate structures near the base of her skull, one touching her jugular and the other pressed against the dura mater of her spinal column. Another Chordoma battle looms before her. With high hopes of returning to Houston and back to her beloved medical team, her next surgery will be to open her head back up and get out “Thing 1” and “Thing 2” (as they are not so lovingly called).

Very soon she will be in the phase of making it through another day. Sometimes an hour. Sometimes a half hour at a time. She will make it. We ask for your prayers!
